Getting your first tattoo is very exciting, but terrifying at the same time, since you don’t really know what to expect. The Flame Wise Ink team finds it necessary to describe how you can book a tattoo appointment, the process and aftercare. We want your first tattoo experience to be comfortable, relaxing and memorable.
Step 1: design
Tattoo is a permanent piece, so it’s really important that you make a wise decision. If you don’t know exactly what you want, just start asking yourself:
- What do I like? (i.e. flowers, dragons, some lines)
- What style am I into? (i.e. Japanese/American traditional, illustrative, dotwork, fine line, realism, abstract etc.)
- Do I want others to see my tattoo?
If you want to see some tattoos done in our studio, you can always visit our Instagram or Pinterest. You don’t have to sketch your tattoo design. Our studio offers a free consultation where you can come to an artist and ask them questions, discuss your tattoo design and work on your future piece together. You can also give your artist an idea and let them have artistic freedom.

Step 2: Tattoo studio and tattoo artist
It all depends on the tattoo style you want. If you are unsure what you like the most, we suggest you visit the studio website or Instagram and check the artists’ flash designs and portfolios. Instead of looking first for a style and then a tattoo artist, you’ll do two things at once. It’ll also be a chance for you to get to know the person who will be working with your tattoo. Your experience of a process is as important as the final result. If you are looking for a tattoo studio in GTA, we have over 15 tattoo artists who are working in different styles. If you are interested, just contact the studio.

Step 3: Booking your appointment
When you have already decided on all your tattoo characteristics, you can start booking your session. We want to give you an example based on our form. Besides your contact and personal information, you will be required to specify the style, colour, size in inches and the placement. As you can see, you have a place where you can describe your idea fully and upload your reference.

You can always book it via the website or send a message on Instagram. We also want to highlight that the tattooing process takes time and we encourage you not to make plans on the same day you have an appointment, just in case your tattoo will take longer than you expected.
We also have some specific recommendations on how you can prepare for your tattoo session. You can read it in our previous article.
Step 4: Price and Deposit
Don’t be shy to ask the approximate price for a tattoo before the session to make sure it will stay within your budget. Keep in mind that the price of a tattoo depends on many factors and sometimes your artist can give a price range instead of the exact amount.
Almost every tattoo studio has its own fixed deposit rate, so when you decide to book your tattoo session, be ready to send a deposit. Studios ask for it as it will ensure that the client will come to their appointment.
Step 5: Post tattoo monitoring
When you finally get your tattoo, the artist will provide you with recommendations about aftercare and will give you a booklet with all the information in case you forget something. They’ll also suggest to you the products you have to use to complete your healing process in a proper way.
