Fresh Tattoos VS. Healed Tattoos

Many of us remember that moment of excitement when you just got a tattoo and are looking at it. The colors are bright, the lines are clear, and it is just perfect. But after 4-8 weeks, the tattoo becomes a little dull. What’s going on with my skin? Flame Wise Ink will tell you why this happens as some people have asked why their skin is reacting like this.

To begin with, there is nothing wrong with your skin. It’s normal and natural. Let’s figure out why the tattoo is getting a little duller than when you first got it. When the tattoo is inked, needles go under the skin and get the pigment underneath it. As it has to be placed in the dermis, the epidermis, which is the first layer, protects the second one from drying, bacteria, and mechanical damage. Some may ask why we can not apply the tattoo in the epidermis. All because this layer is constantly regenerating and accordingly your tattoo will not last even a month.

When the needles penetrate under the skin and start to get the ink underneath it, the epidermis is traumatized. So when you see the final and vivid result of your tattoo, there is no top layer of skin between your eyes and the tattoo. Here is the simple explanation why the tattoo is initially going to be one color and then a bit different.

What happens next? Within about 2 months, your tattoo will be covered by the epidermis. If you have the original photo and then you edit it and apply a filter, the colours change slightly. Accordingly, when your tattoo is tightened by the top layer of skin, it becomes 10-15% less bright.

We understand that if you don’t have any tattoos, it’s harder to understand in theory rather than when you’ve had that experience already. We want to show you a couple of examples of fresh and healed tattoos that were done in our studio.
