Welcome to our blog! Today, we are diving right back into our artist interviews. This time we asked one of our longest-tenured artists, Vik, a couple of questions that she was kind enough to answer.
Without further ado, let’s begin!
When I was about to complete my bachelor’s degree and hit five years of experience in my previous career, I reached the point where I wanted a change. I wanted a job that had more freedom. My main hobbies have been drawing and painting since I was a child. I began thinking of industries where I could put my artistic skills to use on a professional level. Later, I got my first tattoo, and my life changed. I knew what I wanted to do.
I have three tattoos, and I don’t think I’m ready for a new one yet. My tattoos are not small, and I don’t have much space on my body to decide on new pieces easily. Tattoos, for me, are the same as jewelry. They can make you look better, but the same accessory may not work for every person. So, I prefer to take my time and be responsible about it.
My style is not easy technically but looks elegant, which is what I like about it. It combines three techniques: linework, dotwork and classic colouring with a magnum needle. It took me years to reach a professional level in these techniques. I’m thrilled to make something not just beautiful but also technically different and crazy detailed for my clients.
Since tattooing, drawing, and painting were my hobbies before, I wouldn’t say I have any other ones at the moment.
It’s a professional space where I can let everything go. The studio is clean, and all the staff members are professional. In our industry, this is hard to find. I appreciate every person I work with. At Flame Wise Ink, everyone loves their job, and it shows through their professionalism.
Understanding that I’m lucky to do this job. We’re creating our art on human bodies, isn’t it perfect? Honestly, this job is fantastic, even though it’s not easy and you have to be extremely responsible all the time.
The first tattoo I did was a line. Just a line! My hands were so shaky, and my client had to beg me to start for almost 30 minutes. It was scary but fun!
Here are Vik’s tattoos that she made as a member of the Flame Wise Ink family:
